How to Share Mediaflo Media in TRACS

Before You Begin

There are two ways to share your media:

  1. A permalink allows you to share content with others by providing a link directly to a media item. This is great for email, text documents, and social media.

  1. An embed code displays a video inline on a page. This is great for Lessons, Learning Modules, or Resources in TRACS.

Option 1: Copy the Permalink for a Single Media Item

  1. Go to https://mediaflo.txstate.edu/.
  2. Enter your TXST NetID and Password.
  3. Make sure TXST Net ID is selected.
  4. Click Login.
  5. Under the Media Library tab, click Permalink located under the media Thumbnail that you would like to retrieve the URL from.

    NOTE: Embed, Permalink, and Share icons will remain hidden if media is not published or processing. Only Download will appear if a file is ready, but not published. 
     
  6. A system generated URL will appear in the Permalink pop-up window. If you would like to create a custom permalink, type a name in the textbox at the bottom, and then click Create. An updated link will replace the old one at the top.
  7. Copy the URL. Right-click to choose Copy or use your keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C in Windows or Command+C in Mac) to copy the URL.

    The permalink will be copied to your clipboard. 

Option 2: Copy the Permalink for a Playlist

  1. Go to https://mediaflo.txstate.edu/.
  2. Enter your TXST NetID and Password.
  3. Make sure TXST Net ID is selected.
  4. Click Login.
  5. Click the Playlists tab.
  6. Click Permalink next to the playlist you wish to retrieve the URL from.

    NOTE: If the Permalink button is not an option next to the Playlist, click Create Permalink. Permalink should then become visible as an option.
     
  7. A system generated Playlist URL will appear in the Playlist pop-up window. If you would like to create a custom permalink, type a name in the text box at the bottom, and then click Create. An updated link will replace the old one at the top.
  8. Copy the URL. Right-click to choose Copy or use your keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C in Windows or Command+C in Mac) to copy the URL.

    The permalink will be copied to your clipboard. 

Share a Link

Option 1: Generate and Copy the Embed Code for a Single Media Item

  1. Go to https://mediaflo.txstate.edu/.
  2. Enter your NetID and Password.
  3. Make sure "TxState Net ID" is selected.
  4. Click Login.
  5. In the Media Library tab, click Embed located under the media item thumbnail that you want to embed.
    NOTE: For TechSmith videos, select 848x480 or your preferred video size from the Size drop-down menu.
  6. Select iFrame from the Mode drop-down menu.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the options you wish to apply.
  8. Copy the code. Right click to choose Copy or use your keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C in Windows or Command+C in Mac).

Option 2: Generate and Copy the Embed Code for a Playlist

  1. Go to https://mediaflo.txstate.edu/.
  2. Enter your NetID and Password.
  3. Make sure "TxState Net ID" is selected.
  4. Click Login.
  5. Navigate to the Playlists tab.
  6. Click Embed Playlist next to the Playlist you want to embed.
  7. Select iFrame from the Custom Plugin Code drop-down menu at the bottom of the page.
  8. Copy the text from the Custom Plugin Code text box at the bottom of the page. Right click to choose Copy or use your keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C in Windows or Command+C in Mac).
