Device Encryption
Windows Encryption Changes
On December 16, BitLocker device encryption will be automatically enforced on all university-owned Windows computers. This will help ensure both institutional and personal data are protected in case of a stolen or lost device.
If you have a Windows computer that is already encrypted, no action is needed on your part. If you have a Windows computer that cannot be encrypted for a specific business reason and would like it exempted from the encryption policy, please submit an Annual Device Encryption Exception Request before December 16.
If you are unsure if your Windows computer is encrypted, you can easily check the encryption status.
If you have any questions or need assistance with device encryption, please contact the IT Assistance Center.
